When Tony Newton the co author of ‘The Network Effect’ explained his idea to market his new book. I thought it was brilliant. The idea was to leave 100 books on trains and airports. People who find the book are encouraged to go to the web site and enter a unique book code into the site. Furthermore, leaving a brief message where the book was found and where they would be leaving the book to continue its travels. The participant would then receive a voucher, so they can buy the book on line. Tony will then update a Blog to record the travels of each book. I knew this was a fantastic marketing idea, and it was very interesting working out the bespoke application that manages the process. A really good example of having an idea, then working together to find a workable solution.
