| My wife and I recently took a holiday in Dubai, and here are a few holiday snaps from one of the most forward looking countries we have ever visited, Dubai must be a creative Architect's dream and ideal for creative design ideas just to let rip, we were there in July 2007 and at the time Dubai had 20% of all the tall cranes in the world working on projects - not bad for a country that has around 1.3 million people. It made me think, who would be filling all the apartments and hotels that are being built. But they have a saying in Dubai ‘Build It And They Will Come’ well it certainly seems to be working. Below is the world's tallest Hotel ,Burj Al Arab Hotel. I must say we couldn't afford to stay at the Burj Al Arab as is can be around £1,000 per night! | | | | I was intrigued to find the white front section of the hotel is a canvas like material, stretched over the steel frame of the building, below is the interior looking up to the top floor, Burj Al Arab Hotel holds the world's tallest hotel record as it’s a pure hotel and not a mixed development of shops and apartments. | | | Outside most of the Hotels in Dubai there is usually a row of super cars such as Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley, and the odd Rolls. They are available for hire by the half day, this is the closest we got to trying one. It was parked outside the Burj Al Arab Hotel when I took this photo. I was approached by a security guard as it wasn’t a hire car it belonged to a member of the Royal Dubai family who was visiting the Hotel.
